What to Know
The Texas State Bobcats and the South Alabama Jaguars are even-steven against one another since October of 2015 (2-2), but not for long. The Bobcats’ week off comes to an end as they meet up with South Alabama at 7 p.m. ET at Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium Saturday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
A win for Texas State just wasn’t in the stars two weeks ago as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. They took a serious blow against the Eastern Michigan Eagles, falling 59-21. A silver lining for Texas State was the play of WR Javen Banks, who snatched two receiving TDs.
Meanwhile, South Alabama was close but no cigar last week as they fell 20-18 to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.
Texas State is expected to lose this next one by 4. Now might not be the best time to take the Bobcats against the spread since they’ve let down bettors for the past two consecutive games.
The losses put Texas State at 1-3 and the Jaguars at a reciprocal 3-1. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Texas State is stumbling into the game with the 219th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up ten on the season. South Alabama has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 183rd worst in the nation in passing touchdowns, with only two on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
