Live Updates: Suspect in custody after 4 injured in Texas school shooting

Four people are injured after a shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas, police said Wednesday. The suspect, 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins, has been taken into custody,

Police first received a call at about 9:15 a.m. reporting a shooting on the second floor of the high school, according to assistant Arlington police chief Kevin Kolbye. Three of the injured people were taken to the hospital, two of whom were shot. He did not specify the condition of the injured victims but believes three are students and one “may have” been a teacher.

Simpkins is believed to be a student at the school, police said. Preliminary information suggests that a student got into a fight with another person in a class, and a gun was used, according to Kolbye.

Students were being taken by school bus to a nearby performing arts center where they would meet their parents, the school district said in a statement.
