Who’s Playing

UAB @ Tulane

Current Records: UAB 2-1; Tulane 1-2

What to Know

The UAB Blazers are staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Tulane Green Wave at 8 p.m. ET Sept. 25 at Benson Field at Yulman Stadium. The Blazers will be strutting in after a win while Tulane will be stumbling in from a defeat.

You can’t lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely UAB’s strategy against the North Texas Mean Green last week. UAB was the clear victor by a 40-6 margin over North Texas. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30 to nothing.

Meanwhile, it’s never fun to lose, and it’s even less fun to lose 61-21, which was the final score in Tulane’s tilt against the Ole Miss Rebels last week. The last quarter was a mere formality since it was already 61-21 by the third quarter. Tulane’s loss came about despite a quality game from QB Michael Pratt, who passed for two TDs and 166 yards on 18 attempts in addition to picking up 37 yards on the ground.

UAB is expected to lose this next one by 3.5. If their 2-0 record against the spread is anything to go by, the prospects look good for bets placed on them.

The Blazers are now 2-1 while the Green Wave sit at a mirror-image 1-2. A pair of defensive stats to keep an eye on: UAB is stumbling into the matchup with the 220th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up seven on the season. Tulane has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 240th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 16 on the season. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
