What to Know
The San Francisco 49ers are on the road again Sunday and play against the Philadelphia Eagles at 1 p.m. ET Sept. 19 at Lincoln Financial Field. The defensive coordinators will surely put in extra hours ahead of this game since these teams’ offenses combined for 871 yards last week.
The 49ers picked up a 41-33 victory over the Detroit Lions last week. San Francisco can attribute much of their success to WR Deebo Samuel, who caught nine passes for one TD and 189 yards, and RB Elijah Mitchell, who rushed for one TD and 104 yards on 19 carries. One of the most thrilling moments was Samuel’s 79-yard TD reception in the third quarter.
A well-balanced attack led Philadelphia over the Atlanta Falcons every single quarter on their way to victory last week. Philadelphia was the clear victor by a 32-6 margin over Atlanta. Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts earned his paycheck as he passed for three TDs and 264 yards on 35 attempts in addition to picking up 62 yards on the ground. Hurts ended up with a passer rating of 168.80.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. One last thing to keep an eye on: San Francisco gashed the right side of the field in their last contest, rushing toward the right sideline for 89 yards on 8.9 yards per rush. That’s bad news for the Eagles, who had a hard time containing the rush on the right side of the field against the Falcons.
