East Carolina @ Marshall
Current Records: East Carolina 0-2; Marshall 2-0
What to Know
The Marshall Thundering Herd will play host again and welcome the East Carolina Pirates to Joan C. Edwards Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET Saturday. The Thundering Herd are the favorite in this one, with an expected 9.5-point margin of victory.
A well-balanced attack led Marshall over the North Carolina Central Eagles every single quarter on their way to victory last week. Marshall was the clear victor by a 44-10 margin over North Carolina Central. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
Meanwhile, East Carolina was close but no cigar last week as they fell 20-17 to the South Carolina Gamecocks. East Carolina’s loss came about despite a quality game from WR Jsi Hatfield, who caught two passes for one TD and 90 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Hatfield’s 75-yard TD reception in the first quarter.
East Carolina’s defense was a presence as well, as it collected one interception and three fumbles. S Warren Saba picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
Marshall’s win lifted them to 2-0 while East Carolina’s defeat dropped them down to 0-2. We’ll see if the Thundering Herd’s success rolls on or if the Pirates are able to steal their positive momentum.
