Through 1 Quarter
The Baylor Bears have gotten on the board early and have managed to keep the Texas Southern Tigers off it. The Bears are in control with a 21 to nothing lead over Texas Southern. Baylor has come by their advantage honestly, as they have outgained the Tigers 237 yards to 33.
Baylor has been relying on QB Gerry Bohanon, who has passed for one TD and 97 yards on nine attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown, and RB Trestan Ebner, who has picked up 86 yards on the ground on four carries. Ebner’s longest run so far was for 58 yards in the first quarter.
Baylor has yet to string together two consecutive wins, but this may be their chance. For now, all signs point to yes.

What to Know
The Texas Southern Tigers will square off against the Baylor Bears at 7 p.m. ET Saturday at McLane Stadium. Baylor will be strutting in after a win while the Tigers will be stumbling in from a loss.
Texas Southern was expected to have a tough go of it last week, and, well, they did. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 40-17 punch to the gut against the Prairie View A&M Panthers. Texas Southern was down 30-10 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Baylor decided to play defense against itself last week, but the team still came out ahead despite their 89 penalty yards. They beat the Texas State Bobcats 29-20. Among those leading the charge for Baylor was LB Abram Smith, who rushed for two TDs and 118 yards on 19 carries.
Texas Southern’s defeat took them down to 0-1 while Baylor’s victory pulled them up to 1-0. A win for the Tigers would reverse both their bad luck and Baylor’s good luck. We’ll see if Texas Southern manages to pull off that tough task or if the Bears keep their momentum going instead.
