What to Know
The Troy Trojans’ homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Liberty Flames at 7 p.m. ET Sept. 11 at Larry Blakeney Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. These two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
A well-balanced attack led Troy over the Southern University Jaguars every single quarter on their way to victory last week. The Trojans put a hurting on Southern University at home to the tune of 55-3. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-3.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 274 more yards than your opponent like Liberty did last week, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They were completely in charge, breezing past the Campbell Fighting Camels 48-7 at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Liberty had established a 34-7 advantage. Liberty QB Malik Willis was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 217 yards on 23 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 55 yards.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. After both teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.
