What to Know
The Florida State Seminoles have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at 8 p.m. ET Sept. 11 at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. FSU will be hoping to build upon the 41-24 win they picked up against Jacksonville State when they previously played in October of last year.
The Seminoles fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this past Sunday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 41-38. A silver lining for FSU was the play of RB Jashaun Corbin, who rushed for one TD and 144 yards on 15 carries. That touchdown — an 89-yard rush in the first quarter — was one of the highlights of the game.
The FSU defensive unit accumulated four sacks for a loss of 16 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
Meanwhile, a win for Jacksonville State just wasn’t in the stars last Wednesday as the team never even grasped a temporary lead. Things couldn’t have gone much worse for them as they lost 31 to nothing to the UAB Blazers. Jacksonville State was down 24 to nothing at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. QB Zerrick Cooper had a pretty forgettable game, passing for only 91 yards on 35 attempts.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a loss, both will be hungry for the victory. We’ll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
