What to Know
The South Florida Bulls will take on the Florida Gators at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday at home.
The night started off rough for South Florida last Thursday, and it ended that way, too. They were completely outmatched by the NC State Wolfpack on the road and fell 45 to nothing. The Bulls were in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 24 to nothing.
Meanwhile, if there were any doubts why Florida was a heavy favorite Saturday, the team quickly laid those doubts to rest. They made easy work of the Florida Atlantic Owls last week and carried off a 35-14 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Florida had established a 21 to nothing advantage. Their QB Anthony Richardson was on fire, accumulating 40 passing yards in addition to rushing for one TD and 160 yards. That touchdown — a 73-yard rush in the fourth quarter — was one of the highlights of the matchup.
Florida’s defense was a presence as well, as it got past Florida Atlantic’s offensive line to sack the quarterback four times for a total loss of 29 yards. Leading the way was DL Zachary Carter and his two sacks. Those were the first sacks for Carter.
Florida’s victory lifted them to 1-0 while South Florida’s loss dropped them down to 0-1. We’ll see if the Gators’ success rolls on or if the Bulls are able to steal their positive momentum.
