Nevada @ California
Last Season Records: California 1-3; Nevada 7-2
What to Know
The California Golden Bears and the Nevada Wolf Pack will face off at 10:30 p.m. ET Sept. 4 at California Memorial Stadium to kick off their 2021 seasons. Returning after a rocky 1-3 year, the Golden Bears are aiming to prove that the past does not define them. On the other hand, after a 7-2 record last season and a win in the Idaho Potato Bowl, Nevada is coming in with an eye to spark another quality season.
A couple last-season offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: California was sixth worst when it came to overall offensive touchdowns last season, with the squad coming up with only ten overall. Nevada’s offense has more to brag about, as they they were 12th best in the nation (top 9%) in passing yards per game, finishing the 2020 season with 319.1 on average.
California has the odds in their favor, so they’ll need to guard against complacency. A victory is hardly a sure thing, especially this early in the season, so expect a good game.
