Baylor @ Texas State
Last Season Records: Texas State 2-10; Baylor 2-7
What to Know
The Texas State Bobcats and the Baylor Bears are opening their 2021 seasons against one another at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday at Jim Wacker Field at Bobcat Stadium. Coming off of an uninspired 2-10 last-season record, Texas State has set their aspirations higher this year. Likewise, returning after a rocky 2-7 season, Baylor is aiming to prove that the past does not define them.
A couple numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Bobcats were second worst when it came to yards allowed per game last season, with the team giving up 494.9 on average. Baylor experienced some struggles of their own as they ranked ninth worst in the nation with respect to yards per game last year, where the squad accrued only 310.2 on average. So maybe these sore spots will just cancel each other out if things haven’t changed too much in the offseason.
Since the experts predict a loss, Texas State will need to dig deep. Perhaps they’ll be able to flip the script and come out with a big victory.
