BERLIN (Reuters) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday conceded that the Afghan military’s resistance in opposition to Taliban militants had been misjudged.
“The military collapsed at a panoramic tempo,” Merkel stated at an election occasion. “We had anticipated the resistance to be stronger.”
Merkel stated the main focus now was on rescuing individuals from Afghanistan, however later there would have to be a dialogue on what had or had not been achieved.
